Best Credit Cards for Dining & Restaurants

Card data current as of July 2026.

Dining is one of the most rewarded categories in the entire points world — many cards pay their highest everyday multiplier at restaurants. The cards below are ranked by the real dollar value they return on restaurant spending, with points valued conservatively so cash-back and transferable-points cards can be compared fairly.

How we rank: each card’s standard bonus rate for dining is valued in real dollars using conservative, program-specific point values (transferable points are valued near a realistic median redemption; trapped co-brand points are valued at their cash floor outside travel). We use the everyday rate — not issuer status tiers like Bank of America Preferred Rewards or U.S. Bank Smart Rewards, since those depend on balances we can’t assume — so a card may earn more for you if you qualify for a boost. “Est. value” is that effective return; the “/yr” figure assumes $6,000 of annual dining spend and counts spend only up to any bonus cap. Rotating quarterly bonuses are excluded. These are estimates, not offers — always confirm current terms with the issuer.

Frequently asked questions

What purchases count as "dining"?
Sit-down and fast-food restaurants, bars, and cafes almost always qualify. Many cards also include food delivery services (DoorDash, Uber Eats) and takeout, but coverage varies — check your card’s terms if delivery is a big part of your spend.
Do dining bonuses have caps?
Most flagship dining cards pay their bonus rate on unlimited restaurant spend, which is part of why the category is so valuable. A few cards do cap it; where one applies, we note it on the card below.
Is an annual-fee dining card worth it?
It can be, if you dine out often. A card earning a few extra percent on several thousand dollars of annual restaurant spend can outrun its fee — but only you know your real spending. Our per-card estimate below assumes $6,000/year on dining; adjust it to your own number.
